Acid–alkali titration
Titrate hydrochloric acid against sodium hydroxide until your titres agree, then calculate the acid’s concentration.
What you will do
- 01Fill the burette with the acid and read the scale at the bottom of the meniscus.
- 02Pipette 25.0 cm³ of sodium hydroxide into a flask and add a few drops of indicator.
- 03Do a rough titration quickly, then accurate titrations, adding the acid drop by drop near the end point.
- 04Repeat until two accurate titres agree within 0.10 cm³.
- 05Record every burette reading in the table and work out each volume used.
- 06Calculate the mean titre, the moles that reacted and the acid’s concentration.
